Combine quirky recipes with quirky people.

Objective

Create an unconventional cookbook. The book would showcase odd food pairings, along with the history of Freak show performers. The book is about admiring and appreciating the unique. I made sure to include pages of recipes, histories of iconic performers along with quotes about normalizing the unusual.

Approach

First, I researched the history of the now- obsolete “freak show.” I then applied this aesthetic to the deliverables, giving the design a vintage and alternative circus feel. I made each recipe have a “freak” element, such as peeping mushroom pasta which was inspired by the iconic Siamese twins.
